  • Students will begin dance rehearsal Friday at 6 p.m. at Jonesboro High School and choir practice Saturday at 3 p.m. at New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church — both leading up to the MLK Youth Day celebration on Jan. 18 at the high school’s Performing Arts Center.  Northeast Arkansas News
  • Residents at Vue Apartments evacuated Tuesday after fire marshals declared the building unsafe following a December 10 fire — community members are now mobilizing to help those displaced find temporary housing near Nettleton High School.  K8 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Foundation of Arts announced the comedy play The Foreigner at its Stage Too venue (330 South Main) with shows on Jan. 23-24 and Jan. 29-31. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. while food and beverages are available for purchase.  Jonesboro Right Now
  • Jonesboro’s Bradbury Art Museum at A-State has named Julia Wintner as its new director. With extensive global museum experience (including her Fulbright award), she will lead community-focused plans and innovative art exhibits at Fowler Center on 201 Olympic Drive.  NEA Report

  • The Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library announced a Homeschool Hangout on Jan. 15 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at its Round Room (315 West Oak Avenue) to introduce pre-K to 6th grade students to printmaking with guest instructors from the Bradbury Art Museum.  Northeast Arkansas News
