  • Residents can join an Elvis-themed benefit dance to help local pets on Saturday, Jan. 31 at VFW Jonesboro, 300 Airport Road. The 7-10 p.m. event offers line dance lessons by Coast Line Dance + tunes by Rockin’ Randy DJ to raise funds for Arkansas Pet Savers.  Northeast Arkansas News
  • A town hall held last Tuesday at the Craighead County Public Library allowed local women to share their workforce challenges with community leaders, including issues like caregiving, entrepreneurship and occupational licensing — as United WE plans to turn the conversation into future recommendations.  Northeast Arkansas News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Local fire crews responded today near the ASU track and field complex when construction equipment caught fire and flames spread to adjacent grass; officials say traffic remains unaffected but caution residents about smoke.  Mix 106.3

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Arkansas Department of Education partnered with Care Solace to offer schools a free 24/7 mental health & social services program for students and families, with Jonesboro Public Schools already reporting benefits during its first month.  K8 News
  • High school students are invited to compete in the Great A-State Media Fest hosted by A-State’s School of Media and Journalism. Submissions remain open until Friday, March 27 and the awards ceremony will be held on Friday, April 24 (broadcast on ASU-TV).  Jonesboro Right Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • Methodist Family Health opened the 70-bed Methodist Children’s Behavioral Hospital Tuesday at 3024 Red Wolf Boulevard Suite 1 to provide mental health care for children under 18. Dr. John Burnett said the facility fills a regional gap in care—saving families from long trips to Memphis or Little Rock.  K8 News
