- ➤ A Boy Scout from Troop 115 (Bono) organized an effort at Alicia Fire Department to assemble First Night kits for families affected by house fires. The 100 supply bags made with volunteer help will be distributed to local fire departments in Jonesboro and nearby towns. K8 News

- ➤ Twenty professionals from eight counties were chosen as the first class of the NEA Regional Leadership Accelerator Academy. The group met earlier this week and will take part in six bi-monthly sessions starting in January + graduate in November. Jonesboro Right Now

- ➤ A 13-year-old with Weaver-Smith Syndrome will travel to Detroit in February to receive custom-made, adjustable shoes from nonprofit Shoes That Fit. Her mother said the shoes will help accommodate her unusual foot size as she grows. K8 News

- ➤ On Jan. 17, Arkansas State women’s basketball defeated Southern Miss as Destinee Rogers + Zyion Shannon + Wynter Rogers led scoring, boosting the team’s record and energizing Jonesboro fans. K8 News
- ➤ Arkansas State’s men’s basketball lost 99-74 to Troy on Saturday afternoon at Trojan Arena. TJ Caldwell led scoring with 17 points, and the team (12-7 season record) will start a four-game road trip on Thursday, Jan. 22 at Georgia Southern. Jonesboro Right Now
