  • Breaking Bonds Ministries is clearing about 50 driveways and sidewalks in Jonesboro and Bono to help community members get to doctor visits and errands, with crews having started on Sunday (and set to continue until the snow melts).  Jonesboro Right Now

BUSINESS NEWS

  • White River Bancshares reported nearly doubling its full-year net income to $13.83 million, driven by 33.7% higher interest income, 17.3% loan growth, and $228.4 million in new deposits. The Fayetteville-based bank, which operates 10 locations including in Jonesboro, saw its assets and shares rise as stock opened at $52.85 Tuesday.  Delta Digital News Service
  • Boot Barn will open a new store this spring at 2118 South Caraway Road — in the same center as Best Buy that recently returned to Jonesboro.   • The Delta National Small Prints Exhibition celebrates its 30th anniversary as it opens tomorrow at 5 p.m. at Bradbury Art Museum (Fowler Center at 201 Olympic Drive); the free event runs through March 18, featuring 55 selected pieces from more than 450 submissions.  Jonesboro Right Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Jonesboro Public Schools has partnered with Black River Technical College to offer tuition-free college credit courses for students at Academies at Jonesboro High School starting Fall. Parents and students can learn more at a preview night on Feb. 17 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  Mix 106.3
  • After over 6 inches of snow closed classes Tuesday, students enjoyed sledding near Walnut Street Baptist Church, and local schools announced no classes today to let families continue winter fun + together.  K8 News
  • Sixth grade teacher David Stroud was surprised when Fox Meadow School recognized him as K8 News Teacher of the Month for his energetic teaching style. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City crews are working to clear roads still affected by wintry conditions after office closures on Jan. 26-27, and residents are advised to move trash bins to prevent damage from snow clearing. Secondary routes will be addressed as conditions improve.  Jonesboro Right Now
  • Due to lingering wintry conditions, the U.S. Postal Service has temporarily suspended deliveries in Jonesboro as local officials monitor the weather (prioritizing employee and customer safety) and will resume service when conditions improve.  Jonesboro Right Now

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Cars have returned to roads after recent snowfall and experts advise drivers to get a car wash soon to remove corrosive salt — power washers are recommended to clean wheel wells and chassis. They suggest washing at least once a month until spring.  K8 News
