  • The Roots and Rhythm Bus Tour honoring Johnny Cash will take place Saturday, Feb. 28. It departs at 9 a.m. from the Arkansas Welcome Center (704 S. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bentley Hart, a Brookland alum, was named a First Team Academic All-American after recording a 3.77 GPA at Missouri S&T and earning All-GLVC honors with strong defensive stats. His achievement marks an important milestone in a decorated college career.  K8 News
  • NYITCOM at A-State has partnered with SOFtoSOM to help military veterans strengthen their medical school applications through specialized coaching and mentorship. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Jonesboro Street Department has been working long shifts clearing main and secondary streets from last Friday night as crews battle refreezing temperatures and snowfall. Superintendent Steve Tippitt warned that a half-inch of snow predicted Thursday may slow work further — residents are asked to be patient as crews clear neighborhoods.  K8 News
  • Jonesboro police and fire departments are now accepting applications for citizen academies that let residents see behind-the-scenes public safety work. The police academy runs Feb. 26 — May 28 on Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m., and the fire academy is held on Mondays from Mar. 6 — May 11.  Jonesboro Right Now

SPORTS NEWS

  • Arkansas State men’s basketball fell 75-71 to Old Dominion on Wednesday night at First National Bank Arena after attempting a late rally from a double-digit gap. The team will play Marshall tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. at the same arena on ESPN+ and its mobile app.  Jonesboro Right Now
