- ➤ The Arkansas Community Foundation of Greene County awarded a 10K grant to Together We Foster to support children in need as part of a statewide initiative celebrating 50 years of philanthropy; the nonprofit serves parts of Craighead and Greene counties. Mix 106.3
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Arkansas State University's campus will host free Black History Month events through Feb. 28, featuring tabling, panel discussions, a soul food dinner, and a talent show to celebrate, educate and elevate Black history. NEA Report
- ➤ The 2026 Delta National Small Prints Exhibition is open at Bradbury Art Museum until March 18, where juror Ann Johnson selected 55 award-winning prints spanning three countries— including Best in Show and other honors— to join the museum’s permanent collection. - ➤ Arkansas State University hosts its fourth annual Darwin Day, starting with an exhibit at A-State Museum (320 University Loop inside Dean B. Ellis Library). - ➤ Arkansas State University reported a record spring enrollment of 16,145 students with gains in on-campus, online, and transfer numbers. The university is attracting rising fall applications and plans to open the state’s first College of Veterinary Medicine this fall (pending accreditation). NEA Report
- ➤ Congress approved $18.8M in appropriations to boost Arkansas State projects for health care and steel research. A-State will use $9M for a simulation building in Jonesboro, $7.7M for a Health Science Center at ASU-Newport, and $2.1M for equipment at the Center for Advanced Materials (pending board approval). - ➤ Arkansas State University is hosting events to celebrate Black History Month on campus this month from Feb. 3 to Feb. 28 for the university community and public — key events include a kickoff panel, a soul food dinner on Feb. 6, and a Living Legends Awards Gala on Feb. 28. K8 News
