- ➤ A Trumann man, 35-year-old Zachary Thompson, fled the scene of a hit and run in Jonesboro on March 18th after striking a bicyclist near Highland Drive Caraway Avenue—police located him nine minutes later with signs of impairment such as a broken windshield and blood on his car while the victim was airlifted for treatment; he now faces charges for battery, leaving the scene, and DWI drugs with a court date set for May 22. - ➤ Arkansas State University was awarded a $99,906 planning grant from the National Science Foundation to study upgrades for its high-end campus technology that supports research. - ➤ Powerful wind gusts up to 50 mph caused trees to fall and power lines to drop in Region 8, prompting five calls and a quickly controlled fire on March 19, the Jonesboro Fire Department said.
