  • Whataburger opened its first Northeast Arkansas location today in Jonesboro at 3560 Southwest Drive—drawing long lines and a packed parking lot while adding 88 new jobs and 24/7 service with plans for future online orders.  Northeast Arkansas News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Local residents can learn smartphone app skills during an introductory workshop at Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library on Tuesday, April 14 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Everett Hutton from Arkansas 4-H Tech Change Makers will lead the session in the library's Community Resource Room (no registration is needed).  Northeast Arkansas News
  • Arkansas State University announced the John A. Bobango/Pi Kappa Alpha Endowed Scholarship to support full-time business and pre-law students with at least a 3.5 GPA. The award honors a respected Pi Kappa Alpha leader and gives first preference to its members, with additional consideration for students from Memphis and Jonesboro.  K8 News
  • Seven recipients of the 2025-26 Faculty Excellence Awards were announced today at Arkansas State University's Faculty Honors Convocation in Jonesboro.   • A Northwest Arkansas resident has claimed the $250.8 million Powerball jackpot by opting for a one-time cash payout of $118 million before taxes nearly a month after winning the March 2 drawing via the Jackpocket app. This win marks the third jackpot win in Arkansas.  K8 News

  • St. Bernards hosted its Parkinson’s Awareness Event in Jonesboro on Wednesday to offer education, support, and resources for those living with Parkinson’s disease.   • The Family Crisis Center, Inc. plans three events in April to mark Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
