Good morning, Jonesboro.

Jonesboro residents and the NEA Jeep Club held a donation drive Friday at Kroger’s parking lot to collect food, water, and supplies for Lake City tornado victims.

They will drop the donations off today at Lake City City Hall—club President Charlie Hughes said members will also grill food for victims and volunteers while local companies donated extra support.

Jonesboro police arrested 50-year-old Phillip Robert Briner on April 3—after cyber tip leads and a search warrant at his home uncovered videos of child sexual abuse, including one showing a toddler—and he is held at the Craighead County Detention Center on a $75,000 cash bond.

Residents in Craighead County faced a level 4 severe weather risk yesterday with threats of damaging winds, large hail, and possible tornadoes, and a PDS Flood Watch remains active as almost 3 inches of rain fell early with 3 to 5 more inches expected tonight—local media and NOAA Weather Radio have offered ongoing updates.

Jonesboro Police Department will offer free child car seat safety checks today at Central Baptist Church from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. so parents can get expert help to ensure seats are installed correctly.
