- ➤ The City of Jonesboro warned residents on April 7th about a phone scam that falsely claims donations for the Jonesboro Volunteer Fire Department—residents are advised not to give personal or financial details and to report calls from 501-667-8040 or 870-935-5551 to local authorities. - ➤ A man from Palestine, AR broke into a Jonesboro apartment Saturday night on Greensboro Road and assaulted a couple—he faces charges of aggravated residential burglary, third-degree domestic battery, and second-degree assault with a $150,000 cash bond, a no-contact order, and a scheduled court appearance on May 22. - ➤ On Monday, the Arkansas Senate voted down Senate Bill 354 for the fourth time, failing to secure $750 million for a new 3,000-bed prison in Franklin County—lawmakers need eight more votes to pass the measure.
