- ➤ JRN has compiled a list of public storm shelters in Craighead County and Paragould to help residents reach safe places when severe weather hits. - ➤ Monday night, severe storms left hundreds without power in and around Jonesboro (Ripley, Fulton, Sharp, and Randolph counties) according to local electric cooperatives. K8 News

- ➤ The Dean B. Ellis Library clock tower will be lit in scarlet on Saturday, May 9 for A-State graduates after Spring Commencement ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and in green on Friday, May 8 for ROTC cadets— a local tradition—. NEA Report
- ➤ Brookland High School's Bearcat Media Productions won over 55 awards from the Arkansas Scholastic Press Association on Apr. 24 at Har-Ber High School in Springdale, as eight students and their advisers competed against public schools statewide in broadcast, film, and video categories. K8 News
- ➤ Jo Ann Nalley, who has led a childhood services program for 54 years, will receive an honorary Doctor of Public Service degree at Arkansas State University’s spring commencement on May 9. K8 News

- ➤ The Craighead County Road Department begins two days of rolling closures on C.R. 928 today from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. between C.R. 945 and C.R. 975 + the shutdown shifts tomorrow to close the segment between C.R. 975 and Highway 135 with detour signs posted to guide drivers.
