- ➤ U.S. Steel announced a $1.9B investment to build a direct reduced iron facility at Big River Steel Works in Osceola. The project will create over 200 full-time jobs and peak at 2,000 construction roles (announced in November). Delta Digital News Service

- ➤ Arkansas Quiz Bowl state conference finals held Saturday, Apr. 25 at Arkansas TV determined champions in each classification; Westside (Jonesboro) High School won the 4A title. - ➤ Officials from the AGFC advise residents that moving young wildlife may harm them by breaking natural survival patterns (unless the animal is injured). They recommend leaving fawns and fledglings where found and calling a licensed rehabilitator if necessary. K8 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Drivers in Jonesboro can now use the new Airport Road overpass on Highway 351, avoiding train delays at the track crossing. ARDOT will complete remaining parts of the project (which may cause intermittent traffic closures) before officially finishing work in late June. Northeast Arkansas News
- ➤ Governor Sanders and the Arkansas Economic Development Commission awarded $25M to 22 communities, including Jonesboro, for industrial site improvements. The funds will support public infrastructure enhancements to help local businesses grow. Jonesboro Right Now
