  • Delta Crawfish Festival will take place tomorrow at Harmony Gardens in Jonesboro from 2 to 6 p.m., featuring all-you-can-eat crawfish, live music by the Arkansas Brothers Band, food from local trucks, and family games — a portion of proceeds will support youth entrepreneurship programs in the area.  Northeast Arkansas News

  • Jonesboro police are searching for a 58-year-old man named Johnny Ankum—he was last seen wearing blue jeans, red boxers, tennis shoes and no shirt while walking east on Race Street on April 25 at 4:25 p.m. and he was reported missing on April 30 when calls to his cellphone went straight to voicemail.  Jonesboro Right Now

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A study by Parker Strategy Group shows that Arkansas State University had $2.5 billion in economic impact in fiscal 2022-23 and supported 16,332 jobs statewide. The report said the Jonesboro campus generated $480 million from local spending + every state dollar invested returned $7.10 to the state.  NEA Report

  • Sidewalk replacement is nearly complete at the former Citizens Bank site in downtown Jonesboro and asphalt paving is scheduled for Monday if weather permits. City officials said they will next install planters, decorative pavers, and fresh sod next week — completing upgrades to improve downtown.  Northeast Arkansas News

HEALTH NEWS

  • NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital now offers a new, less invasive TAVR procedure for patients with aortic valve disease—an option that avoids the need for open-heart surgery. The procedure was first performed on Feb 5th and replaces a stiff aortic valve through a small groin artery.  Jonesboro Right Now
  • May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month and officials urge drivers and riders to follow traffic laws as riding season begins. In Arkansas, an average of 76 motorcyclists die each year, and experts say wearing DOT helmets + staying sober can help save lives.  NEA Report
