  • The Hope Foundation of Northeast Arkansas will host the Story of Hope Benefit Brunch on May 17 at 9 a.m. at 801 South Gee Street in Jonesboro—tickets cost $55 with brunch and three drinks, and proceeds will benefit human trafficking prevention efforts.  Northeast Arkansas News
  • The Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce launched the Chamber Pedal Pass on May 6th to promote biking, share bike safety tips, and support local businesses offering summer deals. Residents can register by scanning a QR code on the Chamber’s Facebook page and then pick up a sticker at the Chamber to receive discounts & giveaways through July.  Mix 106.3

CULTURE NEWS

  • KLEK 102.5 FM will hold its eighth Juneteenth celebration in Jonesboro this June with free events including a paint and sip on June 12th, a photo exhibit on June 13th, a parade and fair on June 14th, and a church service on June 15th. Fireworks with a proclamation from Mayor Harold Copenhaver will close the week on June 19th—local businesses are invited to join as sponsors, vendors and volunteers.  The Fox 104.9

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Jonesboro Mayor Harold Copenhaver today announced that the city will use about $16.5 million from bond sales for three projects — widening and improving South Caraway Road with added drainage and pedestrian pathway enhancements, building a new 9,000 square foot 911 Dispatch and Real Time Intelligence Center at the police department, and upgrading pedestrian infrastructure — with bond regulations requiring project completion within three years.  Northeast Arkansas News

  • Kent Arnold, president of Arnold Group Real Estate, said downtown Jonesboro changed a lot in the past 25 years as new restaurants opened and old buildings were given a fresh look.
