- ➤ Downtown Jonesboro’s Main Street reopened for drivers and pedestrians after months of closure due to safety concerns from the Citizens Bank building, which has now been demolished — the ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 13 marked a welcome return to normal and boosted local business and resident morale. - ➤ SNHU announced on May 13 that Jonesboro students James Jackson, Hope Selvy, and Brandon Anthony made the Spring 2025 Dean’s List—earning full-time status with at least a 3.500 grade point average—during the January to May term. Jonesboro Right Now
- ➤ On a Wednesday afternoon, Arkansas State University employee Leigh Anne Hall experienced a life threatening emergency when a student worker and University Police Officer Sgt+Chase Barnett started CPR and used an AED until first responders arrived. UPD Chief Randy Martin later awarded Barnett a certificate+badge as the university donated funds to purchase a new AED device. NEA Report
- ➤ More than 610 of the state's brightest young men will attend the 84th Arkansas Boys State from May 25 to May 30 at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. - ➤ Arkansas State baseball head coach Mike Silva announced that prospect camps will be held on June 11 and Aug. 9 and youth camps will run from June 23 to 26 and July 7 to 10 at Slayton Family Field at Tomlinson Stadium — registration fees are $212 for pitchers and position players, $255 for dual players and $240 for youth campers.
