  • The Craighead County Veterans Monument Foundation will sponsor a Memorial Day ceremony at 9 a.m. Monday, May 25 at the courthouse near the Doughboy statue (America 250th - Thanks to our Veterans) to honor local veterans with speeches by historian W. Danny Honnoll and the laying of 10 commemorative bricks.  K8 News
  • City leaders are asking residents to shape Jonesboro’s 30-year future during a series of meetings on growth, traffic, and quality of life; an online survey is available (for those who cannot attend in person).  Northeast Arkansas News
  • Jonesboro's Code Enforcement, Sanitation Departments and Keep Jonesboro Beautiful Commission will host a neighborhood clean-up on Saturday, June 6 at Fisher Street United Methodist Church from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Participants can recycle cardboard, glass, clothes, tires, basketball goals, furniture, appliances and empty paint cans while hazardous materials and yard waste are not accepted.  K8 News
  • The Jonesboro Mayor’s Youth Advancement Council is accepting applications from high school students who want to share their views on city decisions. Applications are open through July 1 on the city website (open to public, private, and homeschoolers) as the council seeks to boost youth involvement in civic work.  K8 News

  • The Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library announced a live performance by The Baritone Jazz Junction as part of its 2026 Concert Series. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Arkansas State University is partnering with Epicenter Memphis to launch EpicenterU, a program that offers students mentorship and a chance at a $40,000 fellowship to develop their business ideas. The initiative will launch in fall and is funded by an $800,000 grant from the Delta Regional Authority.  Northeast Arkansas News

  • Brookland alum Cole Kirby tied for the lead at the NCAA Men's Golf Regional on May 18 + his team, the Red Wolves, finished fourth after a competitive round.  K8 News
  • West Oaks center Moussa Sy committed to join Arkansas State men's basketball after his prep career in Florida. His signing comes amid a wave of recent commitments aimed at boosting the team.  K8 News
