  • The Jonesboro Elks Lodge and Knights of Columbus placed about 250 flags at Memorial Park Cemetery this Memorial Day weekend to honor fallen veterans—continuing a tradition held for over 20 years that offers families a place to remember their loved ones.  K8 News
  • Community members ran in the third annual Run 2 Remember 5K on May 24 at Arkansas State University in heavy rain to honor veterans and support fundraising efforts. The race—organized by the Beck Center for Veterans—drew nearly 100 runners and featured 22 sets of boots as a tribute to fallen heroes.  K8 News

  • Pharmacy giant CVS is reviewing options to keep its 23 local stores open amid a law signed by Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders that will force drug middlemen-owned pharmacies to close by January 1. The company has not detailed its next steps — it serves over 340,000 Arkansans.  Delta Digital News Service
  • Jersey Mike’s will open a new restaurant at 3310 SW Drive in Southern Hills—Coldwell Banker Village Communities announced Saturday, and further details on the opening are pending.  K8 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Riverside beat Hackett 1-0 for the Class 2A state softball title when Annalee Qualls hit a leadoff solo home run in the sixth inning at Shock Stadium at UCA. Coach T.J. Eakins said the win, marked by key pitcher Klaire Womack earning MVP, gave the Lady Rebels their second title in three years—highlighting a strong season for the team.  Delta Digital News Service
  • Valley View was crowned Class 5A Baseball Champion on May 24 with an 8-7 win over Marion (earning back-to-back titles) while Brookland lost its 4A championship game in 14 innings to Harding Academy on Friday night. The Lady Bearcats also fell 4-1 to Robinson in the 4A girls soccer final and Saturday baseball and softball games were postponed due to rain.  The Fox 104.9
  • Harding Academy beat Brookland 14-11 in the 4A State Baseball Championship on May 23 & the game lasted 14 innings.  K8 News
