CRIME NEWS

  • Jonesboro police arrested 48-year-old Rayford Antonio Pryor after a May 27 traffic stop near Main and Johnson led to a high-speed chase when his gray Chevrolet Impala swerved and he fled into a wooded area where officers recovered about 140 grams of suspected meth — he now faces charges including possession with intent to deliver, fleeing, tampering with evidence, and no insurance with a court appearance scheduled for June 27.  NEA Report
  • A Trumann woman is accused of stealing nearly $1 million from a Jonesboro business after misusing company credit cards to fund personal purchases and stock her business—she was arrested on May 28 with a $5,000 bond and her next court appearance is set for July 31.  NEA Report

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Yesterday, May 29, 2025, Jonesboro Unlimited held a groundbreaking ceremony at Craighead Technology Park to expand industrial water service to over 600 acres near I-555 — local leaders attended the event. Construction will begin mid-summer 2025 with support from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission — the project is set to boost the area's industrial capacity.  Jonesboro Right Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On May 29, the Staff Senate honored five retiring staff members and 89 employees who achieved service milestones at Arkansas State University—recognizing contributions from 5 to 40 years.   • Four freshmen from Buffalo Island Central High School in Monette advanced to nationals after winning a regional contest on Feb 22 and placing third in the state contest on Apr 5—despite travel delays from a recent tornado—and will represent Arkansas at the National History Day competition at the University of Maryland from June 8 to 12.  Delta Digital News Service
