  • Boot Barn in Jonesboro has partnered with Operation: Care and Comfort to collect donations for care packages that include T-shirts + socks and handwritten notes for deployed troops. Donations will be accepted through Sunday at 2118 South Caraway Road.  Northeast Arkansas News
  • Parker Park Pool reopened Friday, May 29 after extra cleaning and maintenance work was completed; it now operates from noon to 6 p.m. as park officials thanked visitors for their patience ahead of the summer season.  NEA Report

CULTURE NEWS

  • Tyronza's Southern Tenant Farmers Museum will host the Living Lyrics and Forgotten Feasts Reading Retreat on Saturday, July 11 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event focuses on American music and food traditions, offers book copies and lunch + costs $60, and marks 250 years of U.S. history.  NEA Report

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Arkansas State University professor Dr. Andrew (Drew) Fleming was chosen as one of 12 statewide for the Emerging Research Leaders Program grant, offering $30,000 per year for two years and mentorship to advance federal proposals.   • The city’s sanitation department explains how large yard debris must be placed at least four feet from objects and cut to six feet or shorter for scheduled pickup. Residents may also drop off debris at the city incinerator at 2650 Lacy Drive.  Jonesboro Right Now

  • Arkansas men's golf coach Brad McMakin was named one of five finalists for the Coach of the Year Award by Golf Pride Grips.
