  • Community members in Jonesboro have held weekly litter cleanups for Pride Month led by Dylan Nelson, who started the events after PRIDEfest was canceled to keep the area clean. Keep Jonesboro Beautiful provided supplies and the efforts have collected 150 pounds of trash so far—the final cleanup is scheduled for June 29 at the county library with plans to continue after Pride Month.  Jonesboro Right Now

CRIME NEWS

  • Jonesboro police charged caregivers Tonya Richens and George L. Smith with abuse of adults — after EMS found an elderly woman covered in feces and urine and with severely infected bed sores on her back and hips — and both were taken into custody with a court hearing set for July 31.  K8 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Williams Baptist University in Walnut Ridge announced its spring 2025 President’s and Dean’s Lists, honoring full-time students who earned a 4.0 GPA and those who achieved a 3.5 or higher. The lists include achievers from multiple counties including Jonesboro—highlighting academic success across Arkansas and beyond.  NEA Report

  • Arkansas Methodist Medical Center selected Jimmy Scudder as Employee of the Year, Davina Cavaness as Manager of the Year, and Dan Austin was honored with the Going the Extra Mile award from the AMMC Foundation.   • Jonesboro residents have seen an 80% drop in mosquitoes this May after the city partnered with Vector Disease Control and Arkansas State University provided research to guide spraying efforts.   • On June 25, eight Arkansas State track and field and cross country athletes earned spots on the 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District teams after meeting top-50 finish and 3.50 GPA requirements. The men's team includes Colby Eddowes, Bradley Jelmert and Brandon Williams while the women's team features Izzy Daines, Ashley Guadamuz, Madison Holloway, Olivia Walter and Lizzee Winkler.  Jonesboro Right Now
