- ➤ North Jonesboro Community Development Corporation held its second annual Men Who Cook event on Saturday, June 28 at Hilton Garden Inn, featuring 11 competitors including Jonesboro Police Chief Rick Elliot + Candy Apples BBQ owner Lee Stanbank. Shamal Carter won with his baby back ribs and Stanbank earned crowd favorite for his stuffed Cajun pasta, with all proceeds benefiting the North Jonesboro community. K8 News
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Jonesboro police arrested 25-year-old Makaja Tyronika Dority—accused of aggravated assault—after she attempted to hit a pedestrian with her car near a business on Gee Street on June 25; she is held on a $10,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 31. K8 News
- ➤ A Bay woman was held on a $100,000 cash/surety bond after she stabbed her mother and got into a standoff at an apartment on the 400 block of Patterson Street, during which she waved a knife — challenging officers to shoot her, and she was later arrested by SWAT with a court appearance set for July 31. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Arkansas State Police announced that the upgraded missing persons website now shows updates immediately instead of once a week — local law enforcement can add new case details and remove outdated entries as soon as they are reported. The upgrade began in May and is already in use, with 425 cases currently available for public review. Delta Digital News Service

- ➤ Former Razorbacks Isaiah Joe and Jaylin Williams helped the Oklahoma City Thunder win the NBA Finals on June 22 when they beat the Indiana Pacers 103-91, and family members recalled emotional moments after the championship victory. Jaylin Williams said he plans to honor the win by possibly bringing the trophy to Fort Smith—where officials are considering a parade—so local fans can celebrate the milestone.
