- ➤ Georgiana Soderberg and Carol Frazier Maxwell have filled Trinity United Methodist Church with donated items as they prepare for the annual rummage sale starting Aug. 1—with early bird hours on the first day and free admission on the next two days. The event is expected to exceed last year’s $22,000 record—and funds raised will benefit various local organizations while volunteers sort items and plan a week-long clean-up afterward. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Jonesboro man and a woman were arrested after breaking into a renovated apartment on the 400 block of Melrose Street on July 10 and living there with a child for 10 days; they face charges of breaking and entering and first-degree criminal mischief causing over $5,000 in damages (the man is held on a $50,000 bond, the woman on a $10,000 bond, and they will appear in court on Aug. 21). - ➤ Athletic trainer Brian Griffith from Brookland High School says that when exercising in summer heat it is important to drink water before your workout, wear lightweight clothing + avoid too much caffeine to prevent dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. He also advised taking breaks in the shade or cooling down with cold packs if you feel overheated. K8 News
