  • Jonesboro first responders are hosting the annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive on July 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Earl Bell Community Center—donors help choose which team wins by giving blood for the American Red Cross.  Jonesboro Right Now

  • Officials said a fire burned the inside of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission office in Jonesboro Sunday night at around 9:30 p.m.—the building’s walls remain intact and no injuries were reported.  Jonesboro Right Now

CRIME NEWS

  • Paragould police arrested Willie Kyles, 56, from Memphis on July 11 after he allegedly threatened to kill and sexually assault a driver during a road rage incident—and they found over 14 grams of suspected marijuana in his vehicle.  K8 News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Motorists in Jonesboro have seen the average price of regular unleaded gas rise nearly 7 cents to $2.79, according to a GasBuddy survey of 1,826 stations in Arkansas. Analysts expect the national price to remain near $3 as oil prices and tariff talks continue to influence the market.  K8 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Jonesboro City Attorney’s Office relocated to the 1st floor of the Jonesboro Municipal Building at 300 S. Church Street after the Justice Complex closed on June 27th due to safety concerns (a failing roof rafter prompted the move). Residents can obtain affidavit forms online or pick them up at the Municipal Building, Police Department at 1001 S. Caraway Road, or Craighead County District Court while office hours and the phone number remain unchanged (870-932-0917 remains in service).  NEA Report

HEALTH NEWS

  • Hartford Bakery, Inc. has recalled six lots of its Lewis Bake Shop Artisan Style 1/2 Loaf because the loaves may contain hazelnuts, which could trigger life-threatening allergic reactions. The bakery has removed the affected products from shelves across multiple states and customers may return them for a refund + contact the company for questions.  K8 News
