  • The Arvest Foundation donated $5,000 to United Way of Northeast Arkansas to fund Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library — the grant will allow 160 children under five in Craighead County to get a monthly book. United Way said the program targets low-income areas and will help continue support for local children.  K8 News

  • Kum & Go will close in the coming weeks as Maverik rebrands the chain—starting with the Bono store at 10144 U.S. Highway 63, which will shut at 6 p.m. July 25 and reopen at 6 a.m. July 29, while other locations in Jonesboro and Paragould follow similar schedules.  K8 News

CRIME NEWS

  • A Jonesboro man, Thomas Demetrius Williams, 41, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute meth and other drugs and was sentenced on Monday, July 21 to 18 years in federal prison with a five-year supervised release after officers found 730 grams of meth and additional evidence at his residence—this case is part of an OCDETF operation.  K8 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Intercollegiate Tennis Association released the 2025 Division I All-Academic Teams on July 22, and Arkansas State women's tennis earned honors with a team GPA of 3.94; five players posted a 4.0 GPA and two received Scholar Athlete recognition. Head coach Sujay Lama said the players worked hard in the classroom and on the court — a sign of their strong dedication — and will continue to balance academics and sports.  The Fox 104.9
