  • Jonesboro district court set a $1 million bond for Cecil Ray Lindley, a 60-year-old man accused of rape from an incident reported on July 23 when the victim said she was assaulted while sleeping, and he is scheduled to return to court on Sept. 30 with bail conditions including GPS monitoring & a no-contact order.  NEA Report

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Jonesboro City Council approved a resolution Tuesday that lets JET expand service on the A-State campus by adding a new fifth route and hiring six full-time drivers, while A-State and New York Institute of Technology riders show a valid school ID to ride free. The service will run Monday through Friday with limited Saturday rides starting Aug.16—A-State will pay about $518,282 annually over a three-year contract—ensuring improved campus connectivity.  The Fox 104.9
  • Gracie Doty, a Jonesboro E-911 dispatcher who completed specialized training in the new Emergency Medical Dispatch program, was honored with a proclamation at Tuesday's city council meeting after guiding a caller through lifesaving CPR when a resident stopped breathing—Mayor Harold Copenhaver praised her calm, quick action that helped save the resident’s life.  Jonesboro Right Now
