- ➤ Today, several Northeast Arkansas organizations re-launched Together Arkansas in Jonesboro to help people recovering from addiction join the workforce — the program uses opioid settlement funds to refresh its approach. - ➤ Jonesboro artist Natausha Light will host her first pet-friendly art show 'Paws for a Cause'—benefiting Northeast Arkansas Humane Society on National Dog Day, Aug. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Native Brew Works. The show will display 15 pet portraits with playful fictional backstories and donate 25% of art sales to support the humane society. The Fox 104.9

- ➤ University Heights Elementary has added two new classrooms—one of which serves as a safe room—and a new gym to support smaller class sizes and extra activities. The school and district have upgraded security and improved the playground so everyone can play. K8 News
- ➤ On August 12, 2025, community members gathered at Fullness of Joy Ministries to pray over the school year, with city officials and local religious leaders offering blessings for students and teachers. - ➤ The Lighthouse Education Cooperative will host its inaugural Lighthouse Clay Classic Trap Tournament at Jonesboro Shooting Sports Complex on Oct. 4—teams of five register for $375 while spectators attend for free. - ➤ On Monday, a Craighead County committee advanced an ordinance to the quorum court to study merging the offices of County Treasurer and Collector, a measure that could combine the roles by Jan. 1, 2030—officials will review the plan at the next meeting on Aug. 25 at 5:30 p.m. at the courthouse annex. - ➤ The Jonesboro Airport Commission began building a new $6 million, 13,300-square-foot terminal at Jonesboro Municipal Airport on Tuesday to replace the facility destroyed by an EF3 tornado in March 2020. City officials and local partners—Cooper-Mixon Architecture and Olympus Construction—said the terminal will offer new food service, updated waiting areas and upgraded TSA accommodations to boost travel and economic growth. - ➤ Jonesboro Municipal Airport began construction on a new terminal today after the old building was destroyed by the 2020 tornado — city officials held a groundbreaking celebration for the project.
