  • ASBTDC at Arkansas State University is offering free in-person seminars and consulting sessions for small business owners to learn about starting and funding businesses in September. The events include a seminar led by Laura Miller on Sept. 11 at Cherokee Village Innovation Hub from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.—a seminar by Robert Bahn on Sept. 16 at Blytheville Farmers Bank and Trust—and a consulting session by Destiny Adams on Sept. 17 in Walnut Ridge that requires registration due to limited space.  Mix 106.3

  • Ashley McBryde will perform with Dwight Yoakam and Walker Montgomery on Friday, September 5th at 7 p.m. at the First National Bank Arena—marking her homecoming as a local favorite who grew up nearby and attended Arkansas State University.  The Fox 104.9

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dr. Emma Jacobs of St. Bernards Urology said one in eight men may get prostate cancer and that early detection with a PSA blood test and a digital exam is key. Men are advised to start screening at age 50 while those at higher risk begin earlier, and free tests will be offered at St. Bernards’ Men’s Health Day on Sept. 19 — an event that gives screening and health advice.  Jonesboro Right Now

  • Arkansas State Head Coach Butch discussed the strength of local prep programs and stressed that Arkansas prep players are a key part of his recruiting strategy. He made these remarks after his team beat SEMO in their season opener—highlighting a focus on rising talent.  K8 News
