  • Community leaders in Jonesboro gathered on Sept. 8 to celebrate Black Philanthropy Day—honoring the legacy of African American giving from past to present. Local figures such as Shunqetta Cunningham and Roger McKinney spoke about service and recognition in the community.  Jonesboro Right Now
  • JRN partnered with local animal shelters to launch the ongoing Pets of the Week series that highlights adoptable animals and opportunities to foster and donate.   • Governor Sanders sent a letter on September 8 urging the trustees at Arkansas State University and the University of Arkansas to plan an annual football game at War Memorial Stadium—she said the schools should build on the tradition after the Razorbacks beat the Red Wolves 56-14 last Saturday.  Jonesboro Right Now
  • Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced new appointments and reappointments to state boards covering petroleum storage, dental, social work licensing and workers’ compensation with terms from 2025 to 2035.   • Jonesboro held its first NICA race at Craighead Forest Park on Sept. 8 as cycling teams from across Arkansas competed on trails prepared by volunteers while athletes practiced on Saturday and raced Sunday—local coach James Meredith said the home trails gave riders an edge.  Jonesboro Right Now
  • Arkansas State head coach Butch Jones recapped the team’s loss against Arkansas—focusing on missed opportunities—and said they will adjust their strategy to prepare for Iowa State in an upcoming game.  K8 News
