A record 312,400 pounds of rice were donated Tuesday to the Arkansas Food Bank (over 2 million servings) to help fight food insecurity amid challenges for local farmers.
The donation, the largest in recent years, will be shared among five food banks including the one in Jonesboro.
The Jonesboro University Heights Lions Club will display United States flags at many Jonesboro businesses and offices on Thursday to honor 9/11.
The club has managed this longstanding service project when weather is clear—if there is less than a 50 percent chance of rain—and the flags cost $45 per year.

A crash with injury occurred on northbound Interstate 57 near the Cash exit (mile marker 105.3) and caused closures on the left shoulder, left lane and right shoulder, ARDOT reported it at (6:37 a.m.) on Sept.

Dr. Jennifer Xie of NYITCOM at A-State received a three-year NIH grant for $472,592 to study a new migraine treatment that may help patients when common medicines do not work — her team will test the compound RgIA5474 on animal models at the Arkansas Biosciences Institute.
The study aims to find better relief for the many who suffer from painful migraines.

Atlantic Capital Partners is accepting bids until 12:45 p.m. Sept.
10 on the 38.89-acre former Mall at Turtle Creek site, with 30.93 acres ready for development. Mayor Harold Copenhaver said companies from both inside and outside Jonesboro have shown interest and any upgrades by the new owner will meet city codes.
