- ➤ The Jonesboro Police Department will serve as buddies for Miracle League Baseball this weekend at Southside Softball Complex — welcoming volunteers to join the event and support players with disabilities. - ➤ Candy drives for the annual trunk or treat began Monday when donations were dropped off at the police department on S. Caraway Road and the fire station on E. Johnson Ave, and the Jonesboro Young Professionals Network candy drive is running until Sept. 19 at the Chamber building. - ➤ Northeast Arkansas universities are bucking the national trend as Arkansas State enrolled nearly 18,000 students this fall with a 28% increase since summer, and Harding, Lyon and Crowley’s Ridge reported gains of 11%, 17% and 5.8% respectively—figures that support local economic growth and new academic programs. - ➤ Arkansas State University has renamed its undergraduate accounting degree to 'Accounting with Data Analytics and earned STEM designation' to show that data analytics is now part of the curriculum. - ➤ Westside High School now serves produce grown by advanced plant science students in the cafeteria thanks to a new partnership with Opaa! Food Management.
