  • In honor of National Breast Cancer Month, the St. Bernards Women’s Council will host its 6th annual Pink Warrior Fun Run/Walk on Oct. 11 at 8 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Health and Wellness Center in Jonesboro—survivors join a Survivor Parade at 8:30 a.m. and participants choose between a 5K run or a one-mile walk, with packet pick-up on Oct. 10 and Oct. 11.  Jonesboro Right Now
  • Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund named Shaneka Brandon from Craighead County as September’s Volunteer of the Month after she dedicated two years to assisting single parents. Brandon first learned about the scholarship when she was a student at ASUN in Jonesboro (she now serves as director of career pathways at UACCB).  Jonesboro Right Now

CULTURE NEWS

  • TobyMac and MercyMe—with special guest Matthew West—will perform on October 2 at 7 p.m. at First National Bank Arena in Jonesboro as part of their eight-day tour, drawing fans to a night of live worship and inspirational music.  Jonesboro Right Now
  • Arkansas State University’s Department of Theatre is opening its season with Kate Hamill’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma at Fowler Center’s Drama Theatre; performances will start on Friday, Oct. 3 and continue through Oct. 12, and tickets are available Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. at the A-State Box Office—tickets cost $15, with free admission for A-State students with a valid ID.  The Fox 104.9

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Last week the USDA proposed changes to SNAP that would require retailers to stock a wider variety of staple foods and remove some snack items—some shoppers and retailers worry this may make budgets even tighter for about 250,000 Arkansans who depend on the program.  Northeast Arkansas News

HEALTH NEWS

  • People in Northeast Arkansas will join the 2025 Walk to Defeat ALS at Arkansas State University this Saturday, October 4 at 9 a.m.—the event will support families living with ALS and bring the community together.  Northeast Arkansas News

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Monday morning, Arkansas football fired defensive coordinator Travis Williams, defensive line coach Deke Adams and co-defensive coordinator Marcus Woodson after a 2—3 start that left its defense at the bottom of the SEC with a 30-point average per game. The move followed head coach Sam Pittman's dismissal and Bobby Petrino's elevation to interim offensive coordinator, with a press conference scheduled for noon.  Delta Digital News Service
