  • A free Mutual Aid Fair will be held on Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Union Park Pavilion in downtown Jonesboro where local members will trade household goods, clothing and supplies without exchanging money — organizers note that dangerous items will not be accepted.  Jonesboro Right Now
  • The Craighead County Veterans Monument Foundation is asking community groups—churches, schools, scouts, motorcycle clubs, dance teams, bands and ROTC units—to join the 2025 Veterans Parade on Nov. 1 at 10 a.m. in downtown Jonesboro. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Voters in the Nettleton School District will decide on a proposed increase of 4.8 mills on November 18—additional funds will be used to refund bonds and to build or improve school facilities. A community question-and-answer night will be held on October 21 at the Nettleton Performing Arts Center.  K8 News
  • The Arkansas National Guard and the ASU System signed an agreement on Oct. 2 to boost student career development, leadership, and awareness of National Guard service in Arkansas— the ceremony was at the Lt. Col. Fredrick C. Turner Jr. Military Science Building at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.  Delta Digital News Service
  • A new Trailblazer Scholarship at Arkansas State University will allow high-performing incoming freshmen to attend tuition-free if they meet academic requirements—such as a minimum 3.5 GPA and qualifying test scores—and begin in fall 2026.  The Fox 104.9

  • State Rep. Jack Ladyman announced Tuesday he is running for re-election to serve District 32 in the Arkansas House, saying he wants to support schools, strengthen the economy, and uphold conservative values — he has worked hard for Craighead County.  K8 News

  • After a dramatic 31-30 win over Texas State on Saturday that ended a four-game losing streak, Arkansas State Coach Butch Jones spoke at the Little Rock Touchdown Club meeting on Monday, calling the victory a new beginning for his team. He also discussed his son’s ongoing heart surgery challenges as the team prepares to face South Alabama on Oct. 14.  Delta Digital News Service
  • Rex Nelson provided his college football picks for Week 7 after recapping Saturday games where Arkansas State won a close contest with a 53-second drive—showing a needed boost after a four-game losing streak.   • Arkansas State will play South Alabama on October 14 at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN2. The game is the first midweek Sun Belt matchup in four years—coach Butch Jones said the team will use extra practice days to monitor injured tight end Tyler Little's status.  K8 News
  • Bobby Petrino returns as head coach for the Razorbacks—he is working to boost the team's defense before Saturday's game in Knoxville against Tennessee's high-scoring offense.
