- ➤ The Red Wolf Renaissance Fair will return to Craighead Forest Park Nov. 1-2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.—the event is in its second year and will raise funds for a proposed American Red Wolf and Conservation Center in Jonesboro. - ➤ The Department of Art and Design at Arkansas State University will host its seventh annual Halloween Arts Bash from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 31 at Windgate Center for Three-Dimensional Arts in Jonesboro—offering free pumpkin painting, trunk-or-treat activities and spirit photography with screen-printed tote bags for the first 100 guests. - ➤ International Studies Magnet School in Jonesboro was selected for the Arkansas Department of Agriculture’s 2025 STOP program to give students a hands-on lesson in tree planting. - ➤ Arkansas State University received a National Science Foundation Major Research Instrumentation award to fund the purchase of a $719,800 UltraHigh Performance Liquid Chromatograph-Tandem Quadrupole with a Desorption Electrospray Ionization system—an instrument that will boost research projects in the Ecotoxicology Research Facility. - ➤ Jonesboro has introduced its first municipal park ranger program to boost park safety and upkeep as part of the city’s Master Parks Plan. - ➤ On Oct. 16, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission approved an emergency order that cut daily trout possession limits on four major coldwater fisheries due to losses at Norfork National Fish Hatchery and damage at Jim Hinkle Hatchery. The rule mandates catch-and-release in key tailwaters and a two-trout limit in the White River area for 120 days—officials will review the restrictions in January—affecting anglers and local tourism.
