CULTURE NEWS

  • Lit'l Bita Christmas will be held on the second weekend in November at First National Bank Arena on the A-State campus—opening Friday at noon, Saturday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The annual event, hosted by the Arkansas State University Red Wolves Foundation, will feature about 160 arts and crafts vendors, free entry for kids 12 and under, and adjusted parking on Saturday for a football game.  Jonesboro Right Now

  • Retail seasonal jobs are growing as Five Below & Kohl’s join Bath & Body Works in hiring workers for the upcoming holiday season while local job seekers visit the Jonesboro Workforce Center. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Community members and school officials met Tuesday to discuss a proposed 4.8 mill increase for Nettleton Public Schools to fund new classrooms, arenas, and remodels as enrollment grows. School board leaders urged voters to support the measure at Nov. 18—early voting runs Nov. 12—14 and 17 at local polling sites.  The Fox 104.9
  • Arkansas State University announced its 2025 Homecoming Court with five female and five male nominees during Monday night’s Hot Ones at Home event. Student interviews took place on Oct.22 — voting runs today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and winners will be revealed at halftime during the A-State vs. Georgia Southern game on Oct.25.  Mix 106.3
  • This week marks National School Bus Safety Week while local officials remind drivers to obey bus signals—drivers caught illegally passing a bus in Arkansas face a $2,500 fine or 90-day jail term as the campaign highlights proper driving practices for the safety of over 350,000 daily riders.   • Today, the United Breast Cancer Foundation launches its Mattress & Pink Bag Event to offer free queen-sized mattresses, household items, and personal care supplies for breast cancer patients and survivors in Jonesboro and nearby areas.   • Arkansas State football held its media day press conference on October 22nd where players Chandler Jackson, Matt Hayman, and Jaxon Ellingsworth answered questions as the team prepared for its upcoming game against Georgia Southern.
