- ➤ The Parsonage restaurant is serving free meals to families facing food insecurity amid the ongoing shutdown. Owner Ramey Myers said local volunteers have stepped in to help prepare and deliver meals (as food banks are struggling with increased demand). K8 News
- ➤ On Monday, Jonesboro first responders received free haircuts and hamburgers at an event organized by WoodmenLife Jonesboro Chapter and Black Rose Barber Company to mark National First Responders Day — the event honored police, sheriffs, troopers, firefighters, EMTs and 911 operators for their service. - ➤ The Jonesboro Police Department is competing with the Fire Department and the Sheriff’s Office to collect the most candy for the Trunk or Treat event tomorrow—donations are accepted at all locations until the event, and officials said the team with the fewest treats may have to dance. - ➤ Black River Technical College opened its upgraded welding lab Monday morning with new technology and bright lighting—funded by a $500,000 grant from the Delta Regional Authority to help students prepare for local welding jobs. The school will add a robotics welding lab next door by spring or fall. Northeast Arkansas News

- ➤ Arkansas State University alumni Dr. Acosta and Dr. Yang secured a $3 million NIH SBIR grant to support SylamoreBio’s pre-clinical work on a treatment for GM1 gangliosidosis at the Catalyst Innovation Center (located on campus). The grant will boost research and create high-tech jobs in the Delta region (a sign of growing local biotech innovation). Jonesboro Right Now
- ➤ Local pediatrician Dr. Adam Hurst from the New York Institute of Technology Medical Clinic urged Jonesboro residents to get a flu vaccine and practice good hygiene to stay healthy during respiratory virus season — he added that infants under eight months old may receive an RSV antibody treatment for extra protection. - ➤ Valley View beat LR Christian in the first round of the 5A state volleyball tournament on Oct 27th—advancing them to the next round. K8 News
- ➤ The sixth-ranked Arkansas State women's bowling team finished its competition at Destination Orlando by placing 16th among 24 teams—losing key bracket matches against Maryland Eastern Shore and Duquesne. The team will next play at the Bulldog Classic in Fort Worth from Nov. 7-9 as part of the fall portion of its 2025-26 schedule. Jonesboro Right Now
