  • Local chefs and restaurants will serve soup at Souper Sunday on November 2 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Embassy Suites Red Wolf Convention Center—raising money for Habitat for Humanity of NEA and donating any leftover soup to the Salvation Army.  Northeast Arkansas News
  • With SNAP and WIC benefits set to be disrupted, the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas has compiled a list of local food pantries in Craighead County to help residents meet their nutritional needs. The listing provides key details such as locations, days, times (for example, pantries in Jonesboro, Brookland, and Caraway) and contact numbers for assistance.  NEA Report
  • The City of Jonesboro has begun building a new sidewalk along East Johnson Avenue from Melrose Street to Marion Berry Parkway funded by the Community Development Block Grant—replacing a worn dirt path used by Arkansas State University students and linking to a Revenue Bond side path project set to finish by 2026.  Northeast Arkansas News
  • The Holy Women of Consecration will hold its first Walk by Faith HWOC Fundraiser Walk-A-Thon on Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Joe Mack Campbell Park to raise $5,000 for a December food drive to feed at least 50 families—participants can donate per mile walked or make a one-time donation.  Jonesboro Right Now
  • Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield launched its Take Good Care Food Drive to help families facing food insecurity.   • Raising Cane’s is coming soon to Jonesboro at 2511 East Highland Drive—replacing the former Arby’s site. Developers said the new restaurant will be finished by next summer—meeting the long-awaited plan of local residents.  Northeast Arkansas News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Arkansas State University remembered late alumna Kay Kyle Luter—who died Oct. 19—by accepting her $500,000 gift to help pay for scholarships and teacher training in the College of Veterinary Medicine. The school will darken its clock tower Sunday, Nov. 2—honoring her lifelong love for animals and teaching.  K8 News

  • The Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce, Keep Jonesboro Beautiful, and Embassy Suites will host the first Jonesboro Recycles Drop Off and Sip and Share on Nov 18 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Embassy Suites by Hilton Red Wolf Convention Center (residents can drop off electronics, batteries, cardboard and glass and receive a discount coupon for Houlihan’s while discussing local recycling progress).  Jonesboro Right Now
