- ➤ Jonesboro Animal Services said that although financial struggles have led some owners to consider abandoning their pets, such actions remain illegal and local rescue organizations can rehome animals—Animal Control also provides food assistance to help keep pets safe. K8 News
- ➤ Many families in Northeast Arkansas worry about food access during the ongoing government shutdown, and the Food Bank says generous donors—volunteers and partner pantries—have stepped in to provide meals. - ➤ Paragould restaurants are offering free kids meals during the government shutdown to help local families in need. Lemonade House Grille and others let kids who dine in receive a hamburger or hot dog, chips and a drink, and the offer runs through Friday—additional days may follow. Northeast Arkansas News
- ➤ The 2025 Holiday Pet Photos event will take place on Nov 17, 18 and 22 in the classroom of the Jonesboro Shooting Sports Complex at 3702 Moore Road and will raise funds for the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society. - ➤ The Friends of the Library will hold its second annual book sale later in November at the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library, offering gently used books, movies, games and puzzles at half price. A members preview takes place on November 21 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.—followed by an open sale on November 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and November 23 from noon to 4 p.m., and donations will be accepted until the sale begins. - ➤ Bradbury Art Museum at A-State will host an opening reception for the 'hikâye | story' and Inspired exhibitions on Nov. 13 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. — artist Somayeh Faal will give a talk at 4 p.m. and award winners chosen from over 160 submissions by students from 14 regional schools will be announced at the event — and admission is free. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Valley View School District in Jonesboro was honored for 100 years of education when state representatives Dwight Tosh and Jack Ladyman presented a legislative citation from Arkansas — marking a century of academic excellence. The milestone celebrates the district’s long-standing role in shaping local education. Jonesboro Sun
- ➤ Medical students from the Northeast Arkansas Career and Technical Center visited the Jonesboro Kindergarten Center to host a teddy bear clinic that let kindergartners learn about basic medical procedures with hands-on activities such as using PPE gear and stethoscopes.
