COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Daughters of the American Revolution presented $47,000 to Beck Veterans Center on Friday at the ASU ROTC Armory to support Veterans Cottages of Jonesboro. Leaders such as Jonesboro Mayor Harold Copenhaver and retired military officials said the donation will help the center provide full-service support for veterans — including housing and counseling services.  Jonesboro Right Now

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Lit’l Bita Christmas Arts and Crafts show kicked off Friday at First National Bank Arena in Jonesboro and will draw about 10,000 visitors and 200 vendors while supporting athletic scholarships for A-State via the Red Wolves Foundation — the event runs through Sunday.  Northeast Arkansas News

  • On Thursday, 600 leaders from business, education and government gathered at the Embassy Suites Red Wolf Convention Center in Jonesboro for the Catalyst: NEA Economic Development & Leadership Forum, where they discussed agriculture, entrepreneurship and infrastructure to set concrete next steps for jobs, investment and opportunity—Chancellor Todd Shields and panelists emphasized that regional collaboration linking workforce, housing and quality of life will build lasting progress.  NEA Report

EDUCATION NEWS

  • University of Mississippi inducted Jonesboro students into the prestigious Phi Kappa Phi honor society on November 2 at the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts—recognizing their strong academic achievements and character—and marked a milestone in celebrating academic excellence.   • The Arkansas Department of Education released its 2025 school district grades—three Northeast Arkansas districts including Westside, Jonesboro and Paragould received a C and Greene County Tech earned a B—and statewide five districts received an F while 15 earned an A.  Delta Digital News Service

  • Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced the Arkansas Plate Initiative to connect local farmers with schools so that students receive meals made from locally grown ingredients; the pilot program will start next school year in five districts (featuring poultry, catfish, rice, and seasonal produce).  Northeast Arkansas News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Two autism advocates will speak at an event titled Autism: The Way I See It at the Reng Student Union Auditorium on November 20, with doors opening (5:30 p.m.), Dr. Temple Grandin speaking (6:30 p.m.), and a Q&A plus book signing planned (8 p.m.). Organized by Dayna Miller-Black, the event will also offer an FFA session for students (10-11:30 a.m.) and include visits to local schools on November 21.  Jonesboro Right Now
  • New research shows that Arkansas ranks 5th nationally in diabetes diagnoses with 13% of adults affected—experts say traditional diets and limited access to care may be driving the increase.  K8 News

  • Arkansas State women's basketball defeated Tarleton State in overtime with a 10–point win—87–77, as Crislyn Rose led with 26 points and key plays that shifted the game in favor of the Red Wolves.
