  • Jonesboro will offer many Thanksgiving Day events on Nov. 27 — including a free community meal at St. Bernards Auditorium from 9:30 a.m. to noon and dining options at Cracker Barrel, Golden Corral and Houlihan’s priced from $10 to $30 per person. The day will also include a Turkey Trot at Craighead Forest Park at 9 a.m., a 5K race at ASU starting at 7 a.m. and Thanksgiving activities at Hijinx from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. — giving locals many ways to celebrate.  Jonesboro Right Now

ECONOMY NEWS

  • In Arkansas, gas prices dropped five cents to average $2.58 per gallon at 1,826 stations—this level is 1.4 cents above last month's average and 2.7 cents below last year's, while national prices held at $3.03 amid stable oil rates with supply improvements expected before Christmas.  K8 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, Arkansas State University hosts its 10th annual Small Business Leadership Conference for grades 3–6 on the third floor of the Reng Student Union. More than 300 students from 18 Northeast Arkansas schools will compete by presenting business plans and elevator pitches — they will also attend four workshops and an awards ceremony at 1:10 p.m.  Jonesboro Right Now
  • Arkansas State University was awarded $2 million from the Office of Postsecondary Education to create a statewide coordinating center for Inclusive Postsecondary Education (IPSE) programs over the next five years.   • A Craighead County man won $50,000 after buying lottery tickets during a gas stop at Jordan’s Kwik Stop 69 on W. Keiser in Osceola. He purchased four tickets and found prizes of $10,000 and two $20,000 prizes—money he said will help him move closer to his daughters.  K8 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Arkansas law enforcement and the Highway Safety Office will run the Click It or Ticket campaign from November 24-30 to remind drivers and car passengers to buckle up this Thanksgiving. The campaign aims to reduce fatal injuries in traffic crashes.  NEA Report

HEALTH NEWS

  • Methodist Family Health of Little Rock will open a 70-bed acute psychiatric hospital in Jonesboro on Jan. 13 to treat children under 18 facing mental health crises—this hospital was set up by renovating the Arkansas Continued Care Hospital at 3024 Red Wolf Blvd for $13 million.  Delta Digital News Service
