- ➤ The USPS announced that Operation Santa is now open for letter adoption to help spread holiday cheer to kids—individuals, families, and community groups can adopt single or family letters online and ship gifts by Dec. 13 to ensure timely delivery. The program also offers a streamlined online shopping experience through Santa’s Gift Shoppe to support group adoptions. K8 News
- ➤ K8 News and Hank's Fine Furniture are hosting the Magical Toy Drive to collect new toys for children, with donations dropped off at Hank's Fine Furniture at 1808 E. Highland Drive in Jonesboro+ all toys will be sent to the Family Crisis Center before the drive ends Dec. 14. K8 News
- ➤ The 27th annual MessiahSing benefit concert is scheduled for December 2 at 7:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church + 801 S. Main St and will raise money for hunger relief; community members joining the choir are asked to arrive at 6 p.m. for rehearsal and can donate at the event. Jonesboro Right Now
- ➤ Families across Northeast Arkansas filled shoeboxes with gifts for Operation Christmas Child, and over 1,400 boxes were collected in Paragould in three days. Donations continue at locations in Jonesboro + Walnut Ridge this week, and the boxes will travel overseas to bring toys and supplies to children in need + teaching young donors gratitude. - ➤ Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux & Bar, co-owned by former NFL star Drew Brees (Louisiana-inspired), will open in Jonesboro next summer at the former Ryan’s Buffet site at 2809 E. Highland Dr. StoneBridge Construction is building the 6,000-square-foot restaurant for franchisees Chris and Jodie McJunkins who have over 30 years of industry experience and deep local roots. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Today, the Nettleton School District passed its first millage increase in 13 years with 511 of 10,736 eligible voters casting their ballots. The measure raised the rate from 38.58 to 43.38 mills and will fund new classrooms, an arena, and other projects (district officials acknowledged the low turnout yet appreciated the participation). - ➤ Mercy announced it has tapped Rhett Stover as the next president for Mercy Northwest Arkansas Communities, and he will begin his new role Dec. 1—he plans to work with local leaders to guide the health system through a period of growth. Meanwhile, Ryan Gehrig will focus on Mercy Fort Smith as it expands emergency and cancer services. Delta Digital News Service

- ➤ Nettleton volleyball duo Avery Sample and Kennedy Massey signed contracts on November 19th—setting the stage for their upcoming seasons. K8 News
- ➤ Construction of the Ridge Athletic Center sports complex is moving ahead with walls rising for an 8-court gymnasium visible from Race Street. The project is on track to finish in the first quarter of 2027—tournaments are already being booked to start after completion. K8 News
