  • Jonesboro native Airman Markeveion Williams serves aboard the USS Boxer in San Diego as an aviation boatswain's mate. EDUCATION NEWS

  • At Arkansas State University, the First-Year Experience (FYE) Academic Expo brought over 1,200 first-year students together to show research, connections, and philanthropy projects. Faculty recognized winners with awards up to $250, including a sociology class for its Campus Crime Climate Project.  NEA Report
  • Applications for Leadership Jonesboro’s 40th anniversary class — which promotes civic engagement with tuition costing $1,750 and two scholarships available — must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Dec. 26. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, the Delta Regional Authority announced that several Northeast Arkansas communities received over $5.5 million in grants for major infrastructure projects. The funds will support improvements to roads, bridges and other essential facilities.  Delta Digital News Service

HEALTH NEWS

  • NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine at A-State is using an AI program that records doctor-patient conversations and converts them to notes, reducing paperwork and physician burnout. Dr. Shane Speights said the system saves more than three hours daily per doctor and boosts patient care.  K8 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Tuesday night in Jonesboro, A-State men’s basketball clinched an 83-63 win over UT Arlington (at First National Bank Arena) as Jalen Hampton scored 19 points and Hayman reached 1,000 career points.  Jonesboro Right Now
  • Arkansas State men’s basketball beat UT Arlington 83-63 Tuesday night at First National Bank Arena, with Jalen Hampton posting a season-high 19 points. The team will face Little Rock Saturday at 8:00 p.m. at the Jack Stephens Center.  Jonesboro Right Now
