- ➤ Jonesboro Economical Transit will operate trollies through Christmas at the Park on Dec. 20 in Jonesboro with multiple time slots available (bus stop on Madison Street next to Winter Wonderland). - ➤ Jonesboro was named the 2025 Volunteer Community of the Year for Most Youth Engagement because its Mayor’s Youth Advancement Council (MYAC) grew to 99 members with 1,178 hours in 2024 to 2025. The city will receive two honorary road signs at the Municipal League Winter Conference on Jan. 16. NEA Report
- ➤ The Salvation Army said the community filled 106 Angel Tree sponsorship requests late Tuesday, ensuring children in need received holiday gifts. Families who missed the initial distribution can pick up their items later this week. K8 News
- ➤ Fisher Street Community in Action — a local nonprofit — is hosting its 11th annual drive-thru toy drive to help families celebrate Christmas as donations are accepted through today. - ➤ First Methodist Church moved to a new home at 2908 South Caraway Road after closing on the purchase earlier this month following redevelopment by Haag Brown Commercial. - ➤ Jonesboro is installing 45 new covered bus shelters with a federal transit grant to update older stops along Caraway Road, Grant Avenue, Krueger Drive, and near City Hall. Riders may expect slight detours as construction continues + schedule updates come. Northeast Arkansas News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Mississippi County Hospital System and St. Bernards Healthcare finalized an agreement on Wednesday so that St. Bernards can manage Great River Medical Center in Blytheville and SMC Regional Medical Center in Osceola beginning in January. - ➤ Three coaches previously on Memphis staff joined Arkansas football on Wednesday, Dec. 3; Jeff Myers became offensive line coach and run coordinator, Larry Smith assumed receivers coach duties, and Noah Franklin took on head strength and conditioning.
