If you're a veteran thinking about college, here's a nod worth knowing. Arkansas State University has been named a top school for military veterans by U.S. Veterans Magazine, and the university credits the Beck Center for Veterans as part of its support.

Alumni Buddy and Charlotte Beck gave the center its initial funding. The center helps veterans navigate education benefits, find campus resources and address problems that could interfere with their studies.

Cost: everything the center offers is free
Who: on-campus and online students
On site: a printer, quiet study space and couches

1,000+veterans have earned associate, bachelor's and technical degrees

That's since the Beck Center for Veterans was established nearly two decades ago, according to the university.

“Come and see us. If we cannot solve the problem ourselves, we will help you find the people who can.”
Johnathon A. Mullins, a veteran and graduate student who works at the Beck Center
